Winter? Is that You? - Personal Post

Remember when winter used to look like this?  Yes, one year ago, this is what winter looked like!

As for this year?  We've got nothing!  Don't get me wrong, I am more than thrilled to have clear ice-free roads driving to and from work every day... but really - I want it to either be snowy and pretty, or else warm and blossomy.  No more of this in-between ugliness!

Below is a picture of my husband and I on Valentines Day.  Yes, it was a sad day for me... I lost my Alberta license plates!... but that's besides the point.  Do you notice the ground?  Do you see the yellow grass in the background?  And is that a t-shirt I'm wearing?

This is just BIZARRE!
Hopefully we either get a few beautiful weeks of white fluffy snow, or else it just warms right up and starts looking pretty outside again.  I'm tired of brown grass and cold wind.  It's way over-rated!

Enough venting.

Happy Monday everyone!

Ryker Turns ONE! - Idaho Falls, ID

Little Miss Ryker turned ONE!

We of course had to celebrate with a little One-Year Session.  She was more than EXCITED to have a balloon to play with and a cupcake to munch on!  She was one happy camper!

She was an expert at eating the icing while avoiding the rest of the cupcake!

Happy Birthday Ryker!

Heartthrob - Rexburg, ID

This post can be summed up in one word and one picture.

Heartthrob!

Maybe one more picture?

Look at that hand placement - he sure knows how to work it for the camera!

This absolutely handsome little stud just so happens to be my best friend and neighbors little guy.  I met Tracen when he was 3 months old - I was so sad to miss out on his first few months of life, but I am SO happy that he lives right next door to me now.  Whenever I get that baby fever I know I can march on over and hold him for a little bit.

I seriously am in love with this little man.  I like to say that he is my "boyfriend".
He even took me out on a date a couple weekends ago - chinese food... my favorite.

So when my bestie called me the other day wanting an impromptu photoshoot, I was more than thrilled for our play date!

Here is a little sneak peak as to how our time was spent...

(don't you just want to KISS him!?)

In this next picture, I think he totally looks like Squirt from Finding Nemo!  Seriously, google it!

Oh what is that?  Another kissing booth!?  YES!  I was THAT lucky this week!
Tracen came away one rich little man! ;)

Before I attacked him with kisses.....

... and AFTER I attacked him with kisses... :)

He didn't seem to mind all of the attention he was getting!

Okay, fine... here is one more "hunky" picture.  Now quit drooling! ;)

I told you he was a Heartthrob!

Happy Blogging! :)

Kissing Booth - Idaho Falls, ID

I had the privilege to attend a fabulous little Kissing Booth this week! :)

Little Miss Ryker had fun eating her beads and eating her lipstick... but did NOT have so much fun being kissed to death! ;)  She showed me that it can truly be exhausting being SO loved by everyone!

This next one is my fave...

Isn't her smile SO adorable!?

Happy Love Month! :)

Lots of Lovin' GIVEAWAY!!!

Soo... I was thinking today... I need to do a giveaway

Yes, you heard me!

Being that this month is all about L.O.V.E. and gets me in that romantic spirit - I have decided that if I can get  20 followers by Valentines Day (February 14th aka 5 days from now)... I will give one lucky couple a FREE Couples Session (valued at $50).

Here is how to enter:

Initial entry:

Simple enough... Follow this blog!
Once you are following this blog, comment on this post saying "I follow your blog" (or something to that effect)
****YOU WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED IF YOU DO NOT FOLLOW MY BLOG - NO MATTER WHAT OTHER SHARING YOU DO!!!!  THIS GIVE AWAY IS ONLY FOR FOLLOWERS OF MY BLOG****

For additional entries:

+ Post about this entry on YOUR blog
- once you have done so, comment AGAIN on this post and give me a link to the post on your blog.  Your comment will be disregarded if you do not give me a follow-up link to your blog post.

Example: If you followed my blog you would leave me a comment on THIS post saying you did so (initial entry).  If you also posted about my giveaway on your blog, comment AGAIN on this post with a link to your blog post (+1 additional entry).  If you also got one of your friends to follow my blog, post TWO comments on this post with your friends name (yes - 2 of the exact same comment... both with the name of your friend, so I can verify and so you can have 2 more entries).

Get the picture?

DIY - I love you because... Scratch & Win Valentines

So... this year for Valentines Day I was trying to find something fun and creative to do for my Mister.  I searched all over Pinterest - which provided many fun ideas - but I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for.  Another fabulous website that I love is The Dating Divas ... they provide super fun date/gift ideas for your significant other.  One of the Divas posted a fabulous idea that I thought would be perfect to kick off this romantic month... and I decided I'd post a tutorial on how to do this.  You can view the original post here.

Step One: Gather Your Supplies
  • "I Love You Because..." cards printed on cardstock
  • Paper cutter (if you print your cards at home)
  • Pen/Marker
  • Packing tape (or you can laminate your cards... but that's too much work!)
  • Dish Soap
  • Metallic Acrylic Paint
  • Paint brush
Step Two: Print and Cut Cards

** I designed my own cards (if you'd like to use my cards, you can email me at stewart.kandice@gmail.com) and printed and cut them at a local print shop here in town.  It cost me about $3.50 to print and cut my cards. **

Step Three: Write on your Cards
Make your list of things you LOVE about that special someone.  I had a lot of fun making my list.  Some things were sentimental, some funny, and some were memories I had that became reasons I fell in love with him.  Be creative - make it personal.  Once you've made your list, transfer them onto your 14 cards.

**Note about writing on the cards** - you can use a sharpie if you'd like - HOWEVER, it is much harder to cover it up.  It tends to show through the paint more than a normal pen does.  But... do what you wish! :)

Step Four: "Laminate" Your Message

Once you've made your list and written on all of your cards, cover what you've written with packing tape.  This makes it so the message doesn't get scratched off with the paint.

Step Five: Time to Paint :)

Mix 1 part dish soap to 2 parts paint.  Stir it together until it is well mixed.  Just an FYI - it will make a LOT of paint... so I'd start by making a very small amount.  You'd be surprised how far it will go!  (I made WAY too much!)

When you have it mixed you are ready to paint.  You can either do a thin coat, let it dry, and then do another coat... or you can do a thick layer to begin with (which is what I did).  Make sure when you paint it to move the card around in the light to be sure the message cannot be seen through it.

Once they are dried they are ready to go.

Step Six: Display Your Work
Have fun giving them to your special someone.

You can leave them in little envelopes and put one out each day somewhere you are sure he will find it... or you can do what I did and string them across a window, wall, or doorway.   I just used some yarn, thumb tacks and clothes pins to display mine.  It makes for a rather cute decoration if I do say so myself! :)  My sister-in-law made these with me and strung hers across a shelf in their kitchen - another cute idea!

Step Seven: Be sure to leave them a Penny so they can reveal the hidden messages

Hope this has been helpful and sparked some ideas for this Season of Love.

Happy Blogging! :)
